DFP to observe hunger strike on Butt's remains

SRINAGAR, June 12- 2005 : Intensifying its campaign to get the mortal remains of JKLF founder chairman Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has decided to observe hunger strike within a few days.
Butt's was hanged to death in Tihar Jail in 1984. He was laid to rest in the jail premises. According to reports, the jail authorities have raised a structure on the grave.
DFP president Shabir Ahmad Shah strongly condemned the act of the jail authorities. In a statement, he said the central government should have respected the sentiments of the people of the state and returned the mortal remains. " Instead of respecting the sentiments of Kashmiris, a structure was raised on the grave", Shah said.
He added that his party will shot up letters to the president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh demanding handing over of mortal remains of Bhat to the people of the state.
The DFP president said his party will observe mass hunger strike in support of its demand with a few days.
