JKLF pays tributes to Maqbool 2006
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front led by Muhammad Yasin Malik paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Maqbool Bhat on his death anniversary and demanded that his mortal remains should be returned to Kashmir.
In a statement here the party said tributes were paid to the slain leader in both parts of Kashmir.
A large rally was organised in Muzaffarabad in connection with the event. Similar functions were held in Kashmir as well.
Meanwhile, JKLF secretary general, Muhammad Rafiq Dar in a memorandum to United Nations, Secretary General, Kofi Annan asked that Maqbool who was hanged in Tihar Jail and his mortal remains buried there.
“Today, on his 22nd death anniversary we protest and demand to the UN to force India to handover the remains of Shaheed Maqbool Butt to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front that includes the dead body of our beloved leader,” a copy of the memorandum to Annan read.
