To mark the 25th anniversary of Maqbool Butt Shaheed, Lord Nazir Ahmed has organised a seminar in the House of Lords in coordination with JKLF Diplomatic committee and other Kashmiri organisations in Diaspora on 9th of February 2009 in which British parliamentarians are expected to attend and contribute to the debate. The leaders of other Kashmiri political parties, local councillors and other community representatives have also been invited. The delegates of JKLF from across the UK will also be attending this event to support the seminar and mark shaheed-e-kashmir day.


The seminar will jointly be chaired by Lord Nazir Ahmed, Lord Eric Avebury and JKLF's head of Diplomatic Committee, Prof. Zafar Khan.
 
Prof. Zafar Khan head of Diplomatic Committee JKLF called this a positive and commendable approach by Lord Nazir Ahmed, stating that Kashmir issue can only be resolved if wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people are taken into account.  Prof. Zafar said, he hoped that the British Government will engage in pro-active approach for the durable solution of Kashmir issue. He said that JKLF believes that Britain having historical links and has moral obligation to play a pivotal role in the peaceful resolution of this vexed issue.
